Hello Rincon Hill Dog Park community!
As we enter September, we wanted to touch base and share some updates as we enjoy the last warm days of summer.
A Heartfelt Thank You
A huge thanks to the San Francisco Department of Public Works (DPW) and the incredible group of 30 men from Geo Reentry who recently helped us with a neighborhood beautification day. Geo Reentry supports previously incarcerated individuals as they reintegrate into society, and these men worked tirelessly. One, who had been in prison for 37 years and had only been out for four days, was especially inspiring. If you’re looking to hire dedicated individuals, I highly recommend checking out Geo Reentry’s website.
Enjoy the Last Days of Summer with Your Pup
September is perfect for squeezing in some extra outdoor time with your dogs! Whether it’s a trip to the beach or longer walks, take advantage of these warmer days. Morning and evening walks are ideal for avoiding the hottest parts of the day and keeping your dog comfortable.
Hydration is Still Key!
Even as the temperatures begin to cool, hydration remains crucial for your dog’s health. Dogs can become dehydrated quickly, especially after running or playing in warm weather. Be sure to carry water with you on walks, hikes, and trips to the dog park. Portable, collapsible water bowls are a convenient option, and many dogs will appreciate frequent water breaks throughout your adventures.
Signs of dehydration in dogs include excessive panting, dry gums, and lethargy, so keep an eye on your pup, especially if they’re very active. Ensuring they have constant access to fresh water at home is also essential as we close out these warm days.
Shedding Season is Here
With the changing season, your dog might be shedding more. Regular grooming will keep their coats healthy and reduce shedding at home. A quick brush a few times a week can go a long way.
Stay Tuned!
We’ll have more updates as fall arrives. For now, enjoy the last days of summer with your furry friends at Rincon Hill Dog Park!
