As we head into July, we’ve got two important updates for our Rincon Hill Dog Park community:
🎆 Fireworks Are Coming — Let’s Protect Our Pups
The San Francisco Bay Fireworks are scheduled for July 3 & 4, and it’s also expected that residents around the city will be setting off their own fireworks before, during, and even after those dates.
This kind of noise can be terrifying for our four-legged friends, and it’s critical to keep dogs leashed if they are outside the safety of our gated park. A sudden loud boom can cause even the most well-trained dog to panic and bolt.
Here are some calming tips to help your dog feel safe during the chaos:
🛑 Keep Dogs on Leash – Especially important on walks or near streets. Startled dogs may run.
🧥 ThunderShirts or Weighted Vests – Hug-like garments that ease anxiety.
🎵 White Noise or Calming Music – Soothing background sound can mask firework noise.
🌿 Essential Oils (Pet-Safe) – Try diffusing calming oils like lavender or chamomile (check with your vet first!).
🛏️ Create a Cozy Den – A quiet room, crate, or corner filled with familiar bedding, toys, and treats.
🧸 CBD Drops/Treats – Available at most pet stores (always check dosing with your vet).
🏕️ Leave Town, If Possible – If your dog is especially anxious, a weekend getaway might be the best medicine.

🌸 Cherry Tree Planting – Volunteer with Us!
We’re proud to announce that Rincon Hill Dog Park has been selected as a featured site for the D6 Neighborhood Beautification Day (SOMA) on:
🗓 Saturday, July 12 | 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 415 5th Street, San Francisco
🐕 We’re aiming for 10+ volunteers!
We’ll be working alongside DPW staff to:

Plant/replace four cherry trees in the street basins

Weed and remove Bompas grass near the park
⛔ Heads up: The dog park will be CLOSED from 9 AM – 12 PM that day due to equipment and noise.
