We’re excited to share that a free, in-person Community Narcan (Naloxone) Training for people, along with dog safety education, will take place at the Rincon Hill Dog Park in San Francisco on Monday, March 2, 2026. This training is especially relevant for neighbors in South Beach, Rincon Hill, and Mission Bay, and others are welcome to attend as space allows.

Hello Dog Lovers and Friends,

Our neighborhoods are shared by families, children, dogs, seniors, and visitors — and, at times, by open drug use in public spaces. While we all hope never to face an emergency, knowing what to do in the first critical minutes can make a real difference.

This evening is focused on practical knowledge, prevention, and preparedness — so people feel informed, confident, and supported.

What the Event Will Cover

  • Narcan training for humans, led by the SF Department of Public Health
Learn how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to safely administer naloxone in an emergency. This portion will focus on lifesaving response for people and what to expect in the critical first minutes.

  • Dog safety in public spaces, with guidance from SF Animal Care & Control
Topics may include what to do if a dog encounters drugs or paraphernalia, how to report concerns, and best practices for keeping animals safe in shared neighborhood environments.

  • Veterinary-led guidance for dogs, South Park Animal Hospital
We are grateful to partner with South Park Animal Hospital, a trusted neighborhood veterinary practice, to provide clear, practical guidance for people who live with dogs. Their team will walk through what to look for, what to do first, and what steps to take if someone suspects a dog may have been exposed to opioids.
This portion may include a demonstration or walkthrough using training tools — no live animals will be involved

We’re also thankful for the opportunity to highlight a veterinary resource that many community members already know and trust, located just steps from the surrounding neighborhood.
