Greetings!

As the summer sun shines brightly over our community, we’re excited to share with you some wonderful opportunities to connect with neighbors, lend a hand to our beloved park, and make a meaningful difference in our local area. From celebrating unity on National Night Out to keeping our park pristine on Clean ‘n Sweep day, there are so many ways to immerse yourself in the spirit of our community this August. Let’s dive into the details!

August 1: National Night Out

National Night Out is a yearly initiative, in partnership with the San Francisco Police Department, aimed at strengthening community bonds and fostering neighborhood unity, all with the ultimate goal of crafting safer, more resilient local environments. Join Southern Station on Tuesday from 4:30 PM-7:00 PM at The Crossing at East Cut (200 Folsom Street)

August 5: Clean ‘n Sweep

Every first Saturday of the month, from 10 am to 12 pm, we band together for our monthly clean ‘n sweep event, a fantastic initiative aimed at preserving the beauty of our park. Lately, our volunteer numbers have been falling, and we’re in dire need of your support. Our park thrives due to the relentless efforts of community members like you!

Should physical participation be a challenge, don’t worry. Your financial contributions towards maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our park are also immensely appreciated: DONATE HERE

Remember, every little bit of help matters! This August, join our Volunteer Leads, Stephanie and Bill, to get acquainted with the process, enjoy your favorite melodies, form new friendships, and give back to our communal space. It’s not solely about cleaning, it’s about fostering a sense of community and enjoyment. We can’t wait to welcome you at the next event!

August 16: Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing

The Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing recently held their inaugural community meeting, where they presented a proposal for a fresh Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Port. This new MOU aims at establishing an interim lease for the current navigation center. The recording of this meeting is accessible for viewing/listening here. There is an in-person community meeting scheduled for August 16th. The venue for this meeting will be the South Beach Harbor Community Room. (Click here for more details.)

In closing, we want to extend our gratitude for your continued support and involvement in our vibrant community. Your participation is the heartbeat that keeps our neighborhood strong, safe, and thriving. We can’t wait to see you at these upcoming events, making unforgettable memories while contributing to the place we all call home.

Remember, each one of us can make a difference, and together, we make change. See you soon!

Woofs ‘n wags,

The Volunteer Team
